Scholarship Financial Aid Workshop
Thursday, December 1st 6:30 p.m.
Roswell High School Auditorium
OPEN TO ALL GRADE LEVELS
The Guidance & Counseling Department will host a Scholarship/Financial Aid Night presented by the Georgia Student Finance Commission on December 1st. Guests are encouraged to arrive at 6:15 to pick up materials. The program starts at 6:30. This year two sessions will be offered. There will be a brief intermission between sessions for those who wish to leave early. We look forward to your attendance!
Session 1: HOPE Program
Target Audience: ALL Grade Levels
As you know, House Bill 326, made significant changes to the HOPE Programs, including the creation of the Zell Miller Scholarship Program. These changes have considerable implications for all students. In addition to the changes currently in effect, new rigor requirements for students entering high school during the 2011-2012 school (current freshmen) and beyond were established. In light of these sweeping changes, we encourage parents/students of all grade levels to attend this session.
Session 2: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Target Audience : Seniors (other grade levels are welcome)
This very important session for seniors and their parents will review steps for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA serves as an application for federal student aid (grants, loans and work-study) and state financial aid programs – including the HOPE scholarship. Some colleges may also use the FAFSA for institutional aid programs. Additional Financial Aid programs available in Georgia will also be covered.
