Program Description
The Distance Calculus Program allows advanced mathematics students from high schools approved by local districts including Cobb, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, and Hall to complete Georgia Tech Math 1502 and 2401 (Calculus II & III). Upon successful completion of these courses, the student will receive Georgia Tech credit. An official transcript will be available from the Office of the Registrar.
Applicants to the Distance Calculus Program must attend an approved public high school that does not offer equivalent courses and receive approval from the high school counselor to participate in the program. The minimum requirements to be considered for the Distance Calculus Program include:
- Minimum score of 4 or better on AP Calculus AB exam or score of 3 or better on AP Calculus BC exam
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.5 on Georgia Tech’s recalculated scale*
- Minimum math GPA of 3.5 on Georgia Tech’s recalculated scale*
- Minimum score of 600 on the SAT I math section
*Georgia Tech recalculates GPA using a standard 4.0 scale. Only grades from core classes (math, english, science, social science, and foreign language) and all AP, IB, and college level classes are included in the GPA calculation. For students taking AP, IB, or college level classes, we award an additional half point (0.5) for each course grade.
The competitive SAT combined score range for the Distance Calculus program is 1850-2000.
Admission to the Distance Calculus Program is based on a competitive review process. Please note that meeting the minimum requirements listed above does not guarantee admission to the program. Applicants to the program will be evaluated according to a holistic review process, and we will consider a student’s overall mathematics performance when making our admission decisions.
Admission to this program is separate from admission to Georgia Tech as a freshman. Students interested in enrolling at Georgia Tech as undergraduate students will be required to complete a Freshman Admission application and application fee to be considered for undergraduate freshman admission.
