Colleges, universities, and community agencies offer a variety of outreach programs and services that help advance academic achievement of high school students. These special programs can help students develop a talent or interest in the arts, humanities, or sciences. Often, these programs involve more hands-on learning than you’ll find in a regular classroom. Many residential summer programs include sports, travel, and social activities in their curricula. Personal development and leadership skills are also major themes.

Details: The Tilton School will sponsor several three week long river expeditions exploring the banks of the Connecticut River from the source of the river on the Canadian border to its mouth in Long Island Sound. Expeditions are designed for college bound students entering the 9th, 10th and 11th grades. Details: The College of Science and Technology at Armstrong was awarded a $1,000,000 grant from the Nation Science Foundation Science Talent Expansion Program (NSF-STEP). The program is currently identifying students as STEP scholars to attend an intensive 6 seek summer mathematics program.
